The City is currently conducting a recruitment to fill vacancies on the Finance Advisory Committee and the Infrastructure Management Advisory Committee due to expiring terms of office, and a special vacancy (IMAC). These are volunteer, non-paying positions. Please see below for additional information.
Finance Advisory Committee
The seven member Finance Advisory Committee provides citizen input to the City Council regarding financial matters of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes. The Committee reviews short and long-term financial information of the City and other financial issues as assigned by the City Council. The Committee may advise the City Council on matters such as the City’s financial condition and recommends specific areas for review to the City Council. The work plan for the Finance Advisory Committee for 2020-21 includes a review of the Cost of Services Study Report, Pension Policy, and various annual financial reviews such as the Five Year Model, Budget, CAFR, and CalPERS valuation reports. The Committee meets on the third Thursday of the month as determined by the annual work plan. The City is recruiting for two vacancies with terms of office ending in June 2024.
Infrastructure Management Advisory Committee
The Infrastructure Management Advisory Committee (IMAC) focuses on the City’s infrastructure needs, advises the City Council on capital improvement projects, maintenance issues and solutions, and participates in the creation of the City’s Infrastructure Management Plan. The topics the IMAC explores include the following: public buildings; park sites; trails; the stormwater system; the sanitary sewer system, including the Abalone Cove Sewer District; street rights-of-way and traffic control devices; and the Palos Verdes Drive South/Portuguese Bend landslide. The IMAC generally meets on a bi-monthly basis, typically on the 3rd Monday of every other month. The IMAC prepares an annual work plan that includes reviewing each infrastructure category and reporting to the City Council and the community on the progress of projects, maintenance standards and performance, and the implementation of the Infrastructure Management Plan. The City is recruiting for three vacancies with terms of office ending in June 2024, and for one special vacancy with a term ending in February 2023.

Interviews with the City Council are tentatively scheduled to take place in December 2020 and January 2021 prior to the regularly scheduled City Council Meetings either in person at Hesse Park using all social distance guidelines, or virtually using the Zoom platform. The City Clerk’s Office will confirm the date and time of the interviews with the applicants.
