Park Details

This park, with its well-manicured parkland and active community center, is one of the most popular in the City. Among the features available for public enjoyment in the upper park area are baseball and soccer fields, numerous picnic areas with barbecues, playground equipment suitable for toddlers to adolescents, and a well-used 1/4-mile walking path. Most of the privatized recreation classes are offered at this facility and some Peninsula Senior activities are held here.

Additionally, three rooms in the community center are available for rental for meetings and private parties. The lower park area offers a sand volleyball court, picnic areas (no barbecues permitted), leisurely walking paths and locations for enjoying panoramic views of Catalina Island north to Malibu. As at all parks, dogs must be on a leash.

Facility Rental

Hesse Park provides a beautiful setting for your special occasion. The informal park setting provides you with the opportunity to customize your event to match your personal style and budget. You may bring in your own caterer; DJ, musicians, or entertainers; dishes and linens; dance floor; event planner, decorators, and florist.

Facility Rental Hours: Monday-Thursday: 8 AM to 10 PM; Friday-Sunday: 8 AM-midnight. Renters are responsible for all event set up and clean up, including tables and chairs. The rental time must include the time required for set up and clean up. All rentals are three hours minimum.

Completed application, signed rental permit, and paid deposit are required to secure a rental date. Soft holds and tentative reservations are not permitted. Non-profit and community organizations should contact the Park supervisor at (310) 544-5268 for more information.

McTaggart Hall:

• Includes wet bar, furniture, 9’ x 12’ retractable screen, and small outside patio

  • Non-Resident: $141 per hour

Activity Room:

• Includes counter, sink, dry erase board, and 4’ x 5’ retractable screen
• Available furniture: 8’ banquet tables (6), Card Tables (10), 6’ adjustable height banquet tables (2), Plastic chairs (40), Tot chairs (20)
• 40 people maximum
• Rental Rates:
  • RPV Resident: $43 per hour
  • Non-Resident: $91 per hour

Fireside Room:

• Includes counters, sofa and loveseat, furniture, 75” TV with HDMI inputs, and outside patio
• Available furniture: 8’ Banquet tables (6), Card tables (10), Plastic chairs (40)
• 40 people maximum
• Room is carpeted
• Rental Rates:
  • RPV Resident: $43 per hour
  • Non-Resident: $91 per hour

Kitchen: 

• Kitchen rental must accompany rental of one or more rooms and is available only during rental time. No early access to kitchen.
• Includes microwave, stove, refrigerator, freezer, dishwasher, sinks, and counters.
• Rental Rate: $88 flat fee
