Notice Is Hereby Given that the City Council of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes will conduct a public hearing on Tuesday, October 7, 2008, at 7 p.m. at Hesse Park Community Building, 29301 Hawthorne Boulevard, Rancho Palos Verdes, to consider:

Terranea Resort and Spa: Zon2008-00322 (Revision 'I' to Coastal Permit Number 166, Conditional Use Permit No. 215, Grading Permit Number 2229, Variance Number 489, and Tentative Parcel Map Number 26073): A request to amend the Council adopted Conditions of Approval to allow improvements to the lower beach area. The proposed improvements consist of importing sand to the area landward of the extreme-high tide line, installing security fencing adjacent to the toe of the bluff edge, constructing a vegetated drainage channel with native plantings to divert storm water, and constructing a pedestrian bridge over the proposed drainage channel. The proposed improvements will not adversely impact biological or marine resources.

All interested parties are invited to submit written comments and to attend and give testimony. If you wish to submit written comments, please provide them to the Director of Planning, Building, and Code Enforcement. Public Comments received by 12:00 noon on Tuesday, September 30, 2008 will be included in the City Council Staff Report. Written comments submitted after September 30th will be given to the City Council on the night of the meeting.

This project has been assessed in accordance with the authority and criteria contained in the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). Staff has determined that the proposed project qualifies for a Class 1, 3, and 4 Categorical Exemption under the authority provided by the CEQA guidelines and no significant environmental impacts are anticipated.

The applications and plans are on file with the Planning, Building, and Code Enforcement Department at city Hall, 30940 Hawthorne Boulevard, Rancho Palos Verdes, and are available for review between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., Mondays through Thursdays, and 7:30 am and 4:30 p.m. on Fridays.
