The four cities on the Palos Verdes Peninsula are teaming up in an effort to educate our residents and the broader community on emergency preparedness at the Palos Verdes Peninsula Emergency Preparedness Expo on Sunday, November 1st from noon to 4:00 PM at the Harlyne J. Norris Pavilion, 501 Indian Peak Rd., Rolling Hills Estates, CA 90274.
Participants will learn how to protect themselves, their families and their pets in a disaster. This fun-filled free event will provide a free lunch (while supplies last) and feature dozens of exhibitors, demonstrations and equipment displays.
Exhibitors will include local organizations providing tips and tools, and retail vendors selling preparedness goods, like extended-life water, emergency "go bags," Meals-Ready-to-Eat (MREs) and much more. Participants will also have the opportunity to learn about School District and Library District preparedness plans. There will be brief presentations on safety and preparedness tips available during the Expo. Exhibits like the "Shakey Quakey" earthquake simulator, Homeland Security investigations, Los Angeles Rapid Response Team’s (RRT) mobile command unit, and police and Sheriff's vehicles will provide for a fun, family time. Also, Fire Station No. 106 (next to the Norris Pavilion) will be open for visits and tours.
