On March 28, a Southern California Edison (SCE) contractor is scheduled to begin construction for an undergrounding project along Crenshaw Boulevard from Crest Road to Valley View Road. Construction will take place from approximately 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays, and is expected to be completed by the end of July 2022.
The project generally consists of installing a new conduit under the street for power lines and other utility cables from just south of Valley View Road to the utility pole shown on the left of the picture above. This will result in the removal of four utility poles. Other poles closer to Crest Road will remain, as they support cell sites that would be rendered inoperable if placed underground.
During construction, the 10 parking spaces on the east side of Crenshaw Boulevard between Valley View Road and Crest Road will be unavailable due to trenching in that area. Additionally, the nine parking spaces on the west side of Crenshaw Boulevard, shown below, will be unavailable as that space will be used for materials and equipment staging.

If you have any questions regarding the project, please contact the City’s Project Manager, James O’Neill, at joneill@rpvca.gov or (310) 544-5247.
