[ARCHIVED] Social Host Liability Ordinance

Underage drinking

At the recommendation of the Board of Education of the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District (PVPUSD) and the Palos Verdes Peninsula Council of PTAs, the Rancho Palos Verdes City Council will consider the introduction of a Social Host Liability Ordinance at its upcoming meeting on Tuesday, February 21st.  As currently proposed, the ordinance would subject any responsible person who allows underage persons to consume or possess alcoholic beverages in a residence or other private property (except under the supervision of a parent or guardian in connection with a cultural or religious activity) to the issuance of an administrative citation.  Citations would start at $2,500 per occurrence and increase with subsequent occurrences.

The February 21st Staff report is available on the City’s website here.  The City Council meets at 7:00 PM in McTaggart Hall at Hesse Park, located at 29301 Hawthorne Blvd., Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275.
