EPC Advisory Board Recruitment Photo

The City of Rancho Palos Verdes is currently conducting a recruitment to fill two seats on the Emergency Preparedness Committee. These are volunteer, non-paying positions with four-year terms of office ending in 2021.

The Emergency Preparedness Committee is charged with making recommendations to the City Council to help ensure that the City of Rancho Palos Verdes develops and maintains a high state of readiness to respond to emergencies and disasters. Committee members advise the City Council on ways to develop and improve programs to communicate with and educate residents about the importance of emergency preparedness. Committee members are called upon to participate in community outreach events to encourage residents to become prepared and to participate in local volunteer disaster response organizations. Committee members are also encouraged to become trained and registered as Disaster Service Workers, and/or receive other disaster-related training and certifications. The Committee meets on a monthly basis, typically the 3rd Thursday of the month, at 7:00 P.M. in the Community Room at City Hall, with authorization for staff to cancel unnecessary monthly meetings after conferring with the Chair.

Those interested in applying must submit an application to the City Clerk’s Office by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, March 24, 2017. To be considered for appointment, an applicant must be a resident of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes. An application for appointment can be requested from the City Clerk’s Office, City Hall, 30940 Hawthorne Boulevard, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275, telephone number (310) 544-5217 or downloaded from the City’s website at the following web address: http://www.rpvca.gov/150/6911/Advisory-Board-Recruitment. Interviews with the City Council are anticipated to take place on April 4, 2017 prior to the regularly scheduled City Council Meeting. The City Clerk’s Office will confirm the date and time of the interviews with the applicants.
