[ARCHIVED] Rancho Palos Verdes Introduces Peninsula-Wide Coyote Tracking Application

Coyote

Over the past several months, the City’s Information Technology Staff have been developing a web-based coyote tracking application, and we are now pleased to announce its availability to the public for use on mobile and desktop devices (http://coyotesightings.rpvca.gov). The application benefits all of the Peninsula’s cities, and although its development was led by the City’s Staff, it was a collaborative effort with the cities of Rolling Hills Estates and Palos Verdes Estates, whose residents and staff will utilize this program as well.

The purpose of this application is to provide information on coyote population and sighting trends. Residents will be asked to report a coyote sighting and describe the coyote’s behavior or incident on this application. The reported information will be documented and forwarded to City Staff. Additionally, a map of the Peninsula that is available on the website will identify the location of the reported coyote and its activity.

For additional information about the City’s coyote control efforts, please contact the Code Enforcement Division of the Community Development Department at (310) 544-5281 or visit http://www.rpvca.gov/335/Coyotes.  This matter will also be discussed by the City Council at its upcoming meeting on Tuesday, September 19th.
