Quarantine Fatigue is Real, But We Can’t Give Up
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health is reporting continued increases in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations. Today, the department announced 2,779 new cases of COVID-19. This is the third consecutive day of new cases over 2,100.
There are 1,783 people currently hospitalized, 26% of these people are confirmed cases in the ICU and 18% are confirmed cases on ventilators. This is significantly higher than the 1,350 to 1,450 daily hospitalizations seen in recent weeks.
All of us, businesses and individuals, need to take immediate action if we are to turn things around. Otherwise, we are quickly moving toward overwhelming our healthcare system and seeing even more devastating illness and death from COVID-19.
Everyone should always wear a face covering securely over your nose and mouth and keep six feet apart from others not in your household when out in public. Businesses must continue to follow Public Health directives. Public Health reminds everyone that you remain safer at home.

Beaches to Close Over Holiday Weekend
L.A. County's Department of Public Health (DPH), last night, ordered the temporary closure of L.A. County beaches. Closures will begin July 3 at 12:01 a.m. through July 6 at 5 a.m., to prevent dangerous crowding that results in the spread of deadly COVID-19. In addition to the closure of all public beaches in L.A. County, the modified Health Order also includes: - The closure of piers, public beach parking lots, beach bike paths (that traverse sanded portions of the beach), and beach access points.
- All recreational activities on beaches are prohibited.
- Firework shows and events are also prohibited this July 4th holiday weekend.
Key metrics continue to show steep increases in community spread of COVID-19. Yesterday, DPH announced the largest one-day case count (2,900 new cases) since the pandemic began. Projections by L.A. County's Department of Health Services (DHS) also show a steep increase in hospitalizations in the coming weeks, which could cause a surge in our healthcare system. For more information on how to stay safe, visit covid19.lacounty.gov.

Reminder: Gatherings in Your Home are High-Risk for Spreading COVID-19
Yes, this weekend is a holiday weekend. As much as we all want to celebrate with friends and family, gathering with people outside of our households is not permitted and puts everyone at risk of COVID-19. Protect yourself and others by avoiding gatherings this Fourth of July.

Businesses Urged to Comply with COVID-19 Health Protocols
L.A. County's battle against COVID-19 is far from over. While the county’s team of experts report individual action has contributed to L.A. County's further spread of COVID-19, they share actions of businesses have also played a critical role.
The top reasons behind L.A. County's further spread of COVID-19, as it pertains to businesses, is outlined in the image above. It includes this past weekend's inspections, which showed:
1) 49% of bars and 33% of restaurants did not adhere to physical distancing protocols indoors; and 2) 54% of bars and 44% of restaurants had workers without masks and face shields.
We know many businesses are doing what they can to adhere to protocols, in order to reopen and conduct business safely. Doing so is not only an investment in the progress and future of the business, itself, but in the community the business relies on, and in the progress we'd all like to see during this challenging time.
L.A. County businesses are urged to do their part to curb the spread of COVID-19. To help keep employees and customers on the Road to Recovery, remember: - You have every right to "reserve the right to refuse service" to those who do not adhere to safety protocols; and
- No Shirt, No Shoes, No Mask, No Service.
To access Reopening Protocols, visit http://publichealth.lacounty.gov/media/Coronavirus/ For assistance with Reopening Protocol questions, call (888) 700-9995 or email Ehmail@ph.lacounty.gov.
To report a non-compliant business, call (888) 700-9995, Mon.-Fri. from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or visit https://ehservices.publichealth.lacounty.gov/servlet/guest?formId=4&saveAction=5&service=0&
