Traffic Safety Committee Recruitments
Want to get more involved in local government? The City is accepting applications to fill three vacancies on the Traffic Safety Committee. These are volunteer, non-paying positions with terms of office ending in June 2024.
The five-member Traffic Safety Committee serves as a public forum for traffic-related issues, including placement of traffic control devices, consideration of traffic calming solutions, safety-related tools and posted speed limits.
The 2020-2021 work plan for the Traffic Safety Committee includes providing civic engagement opportunities to discuss school safety matters, safe school routes, crossing guards and crosswalks. The committee will also provide comments and recommendations to the City Council regarding the Circulation Element of the General Plan Update, permit parking in coastal zones and roadway safety relating to multi-modal use of the public rights-of-way.
The Traffic Safety Committee generally meets on the fourth Monday of every other month at 7 p.m. To help prevent the spread of COVID-19, meetings are held virtually via Zoom.
