Catalytic Converter Theft Prevention Event
The Lomita Sheriff’s Station is hosting a catalytic converter etching event to help prevent theft on Saturday, April 24 from 9am-1pm at Lomita City Hall at no charge.
Catalytic converters are stolen for their previous metals. In Los Angeles County alone, the Sheriff’s Department reported a 400% increase in catalytic converter thefts from 2019 to 2020.
At etching events, vehicle identification numbers (VIN) are engraved into the metal. This may help recover a stolen catalytic converter.
For questions about the event, please contact Lomita City Hall at (310) 325-7110.
If you see something suspicious, say something! Call the Lomita Sheriff’s Station, serving the City of Rancho Palos Verdes at (310) 539-1661.
