Dear Residents,

The City of Rancho Palos Verdes continues to monitor the spread of the novel coronavirus in Los Angeles County and would like to share the following updates with the community:

The Latest

Thank You Nurses and Teachers

It’s National Nurses Day and Teacher Appreciation Week! The City of Rancho Palos Verdes would like to express its deep gratitude to our nurses and teachers for their vital roles and selfless commitment throughout the pandemic and always.

Yellow Tier

L.A. County Moves into Yellow Tier

L.A. County has met the threshold for the least restrictive yellow tier in the state's Blueprint for a Safer Economy. A revised Health Officer Order went into effect today to reflect newly permitted activities. Moving into the yellow tier allows for increases in capacity in many sectors and allows bars to begin providing indoor service at 25% capacity. All of these changes will still require safety modifications, including masking, distancing and infection control to reduce the risk of transmission. The sectors with increases in capacity limits include amusement parks and fairs, gyms and fitness centers, yoga studios, private events, bars, hotels and short-term lodging rentals, private gatherings, breweries, indoor playgrounds, restaurants, cardrooms and racetracks, indoor and outdoor live events and performances, wineries and tasting rooms, family entertainment centers, and museums, zoos, and aquariums.

Mental Health Awareness Month

It's ok to not be ok.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and collectively as a community, our mental health has suffered during the COVID-19 pandemic. Know that you are not alone. During Mental Health Awareness Month in May, we encourage you to be kind to yourself and be kind to one another. Beach Cities Health District (BCHD) will provide mental health programs, tips and resources to let you prioritize and support your mental health as we continue to live through and recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. Vaccine Updates

Second Dose Guidance

What to Do if You Missed Your Second Dose

In a new video, Dr. Eloisa Gonzalez of the L.A. County Department of Public Health explains you should try and get your second COVID-19 dose either 21 days after your first shot if you got the Pfizer vaccine or 28 days if you got the Moderna vaccine. If you don’t get the second dose within that time frame, get it as soon as possible. In very rare situations, your second dose may be given up to 6 weeks (42 days) after the first dose, according to the CDC. It is important that you get the same vaccine for both your first and second dose. You will not be fully vaccinated if you don't get both doses.
