Draft Housing Element

Last Chance: Share Your Thoughts on the Draft Housing Element by November 4

Reminder: Public comments on the City of Rancho Palos Verdes Draft Housing Element are due tomorrow, Thursday, November 4.

All California cities are required to adopt a comprehensive General Plan to guide land-use planning decisions. The Housing Element is a key component that provides an analysis of a community’s housing needs for all income levels and strategies to respond to provide for those housing needs.

The Rancho Palos Verdes Draft Housing Element (PDF) outlines ways that the City can meet its state-required 6th Cycle Regional Housing Needs Assessment allocation of accommodating 647 housing units (including 8 units carried over from the 5th Cycle) in various income levels for the next planning period of 2021-2029.

The Draft Housing Element was reviewed by the Planning Commission and the City Council in October 2021. The City Council will consider adopting a revised version based on direction from the Planning Commission, City Council, and an informal review by the California Department of Housing and Community Development at a meeting tentatively scheduled for February 2022.
