Tsunami Advisory in Effect
A Tsunami Advisory is in effect for Los Angeles County beaches due to volcanic activity in Tonga. Per the National Weather Service, the initial waves were anticipated at 7:45am.
If you are in a tsunami advisory area:
- Move out of the water, off the beach, and away from harbors, marinas, breakwaters, bays, and inlets.
- Do not go to the shore to observe the tsunami.
- Do not return to the coast until local emergency officials indicate it is safe.
Be alert to and follow instructions from your local emergency officials because they may have more detailed or specific information for your location.
An advisory means a dangerous wave is on the way. Strong and unusual currents are expected along the coast, and in bays, marinas, and harbors. Move to high ground and away from the shore. More information at https://tsunami.gov
