Final Draft Housing Element Now Available

The City of Rancho Palos Verdes Final Draft Housing Element is now available!

All California cities are required to adopt a comprehensive General Plan to guide land-use planning decisions. The Housing Element is a key component that provides an analysis of a community’s housing needs.

The Rancho Palos Verdes Final Draft Housing Element (PDF) outlines ways the City can meet its state-required 6th Cycle Regional Housing Needs Assessment allocation of accommodating 647 housing units in various income levels for the next planning period of 2021-2029.

The Final Draft Housing Element responds to comments by the California Department of Housing and Community Development Department (HCD) on the second draft that was completed in November 2021. Primary revisions are to the site inventory, updates to various sections and programs in response to HCD’s comments, and a few new programs/policies to address infill, transitional, and employee housing. The Final Draft Housing Element and Negative Declaration (PDF) will be presented to the Planning Commission on August 9, 2022, and will be considered for adoption by the City Council on August 11, 2022.
