Statement on UCLA's Acquisition of MCU Properties

Today, September 27, Rancho Palos Verdes City Manager Ara Mihranian issued the following statement on UCLA’s acquisition of the Marymount California University properties:

“The City of Rancho Palos Verdes welcomes today’s announcement that Marymount California University has selected UCLA as the buyer of its former campus in the City and housing site in San Pedro. We are excited about the addition of a top public university of such prestige and purpose as UCLA to our community. Mayor Dave Bradley, Councilmember Eric Alegria and I have had the opportunity to meet with Chancellor Gene Block to welcome UCLA as a new stakeholder in RPV. We also discussed the importance of maintaining close relationships built over the years between the City, the campus, and the surrounding residential community. We look forward to being neighbors, to continuing that tradition of partnership, and to the myriad opportunities this acquisition will bring to the City, the Peninsula, and the South Bay.”
