City Council Meeting Highlights

Last night, the City Council approved a request to name two new nature reserves in the recently acquired 96-acre Lower Filiorum property after Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy donors: the Jacqueline M. Glass Family Reserve and the Dorothy and Allen Lay Reserve.

The Council voted to join an agreement with the other Peninsula cities to implement and promote the forthcoming “Know Your Zone” evacuation preparedness campaign.

The Council also approved a short-term location for a proposed helopod at the Civic Center that could hold 4,800 gallons of water to support firefighting capabilities on the Peninsula. A long-term location will be determined as the City explores the potential redevelopment and reconfiguration of the Civic Center site.
