City Council Meeting Highlights

Highlights from the September 19 City Council meeting:

• Representatives from Cal Water and SoCalGas gave updates on their response to recent accelerated land movement in the Portuguese Bend Landslide area, including enhanced pipeline monitoring and infrastructure upgrades. After residents of the Seaview and Portuguese Bend Beach Club neighborhoods expressed their concerns about the land movement, the Council voted to have City staff explore how declaring a local emergency could impact the City’s response. A report will be provided at the October 3 City Council meeting. City staff will also conduct a working group meeting with various stakeholders and the utilities will provide another update to the Council in the coming months.
