City Council Meeting HighlightsHighlights from the April 16 City Council meeting: - Discussion of installing two emergency dewatering wells in the Portuguese Bend Landslide complex was continued to the May 7 City Council meeting, as more time is needed to finalize the project design.
- The Council adopted the City’s 6th Cycle Housing Element, a document that outlines ways RPV can meet its state-required target of accommodating 647 new housing units in various income levels through 2029.
- The Council also initiated the creation of a Mixed-Use Overlay District, Residential Overlay District, and rezoning as part of the Housing Element update.
- City staff is immediately submitting the Final Housing Element and associated rezoning to the California Department of Housing and Community Development for certification — the agency’s stamp of approval that will bring the City into compliance with state housing law. Staff will also submit Local Coastal Plan Amendments that are part of the Housing Element update to the California Coastal Commission.
- The Council heard updates on Trump National Golf Club’s compliance with its maintenance obligations for trails and open space.
