Today, May 7, Alert SouthBay conducted a test of the Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) system in the South Bay region in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and FEMA’s Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS),

This test, aimed at consumer cellphones, sought to evaluate the effectiveness of the WEA system in emergency communications. Residents in the geofenced area who have a registered cellular phone turned on should have received the alert at 11:30 a.m.
