City Council Meeting Highlights

Highlights from the September 17 City Council meeting:

• The Council approved guidelines for a new program that will provide small matching grants to businesses and property owners along Western Avenue for the completion of storefront improvements.  
• Grants will range from $5,000 to $20,000, depending on the project, with a 50% match. Examples include new exterior paint, lighting, landscaping, signs, awnings, entry doors, outdoor seating, and resolving code violations. 
• Check the City website in the coming weeks for more information on how to apply. 
• Staff provided a first-quarter update on City Council Goals across policy areas ranging from quality of life and infrastructure, to citizen engagement and public safety. 
• The Council approved holding a tree and menorah lighting ceremony this holiday season at the Ken Dyda Civic Center with a weekend of roller skating.
