Sister City Fifth Anniversary Celebration August 4

Join us at Hesse Park on August 4, 2025, from 6-8 p.m. for cross-cultural festivities celebrating the five-year anniversary of the formation of the sister city partnership between Rancho Palos Verdes and Sakura City, Japan. 

This in-person and virtual event will bring together both cities with remarks from Councilmembers, the unveiling of a mile marker sign in Sakura City, cake, and other ceremonial activities.

Building on a bond established over 20 years ago by middle school students, Rancho Palos Verdes and Sakura City made their cross-cultural friendship official by becoming sister cities in August 2020. In the years since, both cities have shared their cultures and traditions through programming and visits.
