City Council Meeting HighlightsHighlights from the October 21, 2025 City Council meeting: - Due to the multitude of legal, procedural, and regulatory requirements and various unknowns, the Council decided against proceeding with conducting a feasibility study exploring creating a toll road along a portion of Palos Verdes Drive South in the landslide area to help pay for roadway maintenance.
- The Council moved to advocate for introducing state legislation that would require grocery stores to continue offering paper coupons to ensure access for all patrons. This policy issue will be added as a priority in the City’s proposed 2026 Legislative Platform.
- Finally, the Council adopted the 2025 California Building Standards Code, which adds requirements for new vents leading into homes to be fire-rated and ember resistant, and for new residential buildings to use heat pumps for space and water heating. Additionally, the Council approved language strengthening geological hazard mitigation requirements. The code is updated every three years.
