Crime Reporting

?? Dive into the world of crime statistics!

?? Part 1 vs. Part 2 crimes: What's the difference? ??

?? Part 1 Crimes: These are serious offenses, including violent crimes like murder, robbery, and aggravated assault, as well as property crimes such as burglary and motor vehicle theft. Part 1 crimes are reported to law enforcement and tracked meticulously, providing critical insights into community safety.

?? Part 2 Crimes: These encompass a broader range of offenses, including simple assault, fraud, vandalism, and drug offenses. While still significant, Part 2 crimes are generally less severe compared to Part 1 crimes. They contribute to understanding overall crime trends but may not receive as much attention in official statistics.

Understanding the distinction between Part 1 and Part 2 crimes helps paint a clearer picture of crime rates and trends in our communities. Stay informed, stay safe!

For more information, visit our city website for a brief description of the types of crime reported on the weekly crime report.
